Canadian AI data centre map

A Canada-only map of AI data centre projects that have been proposed, announced, started, or put into operation. Click a province to filter the list, then click a marker for project details.

How the scores work

7–10

Stronger public record. Key claims are documented, but enforceable commitments may still be required.

4–6

Mixed or incomplete. Some useful public detail exists, but major checklist answers remain unresolved.

0–3

Weak public record, poor siting/process, or claims too large for the information currently available.

The list below mirrors the map and applies the same checklist score to every listed project.

Sources and notes

This map is built from public announcements, company pages, government project listings, and public documents. Province geometry is loaded from a Natural Earth administrative-boundary service, with a Canada-only outline fallback.

  • Alberta project locations and descriptions: Alberta Major Projects listings, company project pages, and related public documents for Meta Sturgeon County, Wonder Valley, Synapse Olds, Beacon, Crusoe/Kalina, Mihta Askiy, and related projects.
  • Vulcan / Little Bow / Travers: Vulcan County Bylaw 2026-007 material, the June 17 Council approval reducing the final rezoned area to 594.55 acres, and the Travers AI Data Centre Campus concept package. The map distinguishes the approved rezoning from any future data-centre development permit.
  • TELUS, QScale, Bell AI Fabric, HIVE, and BUZZ entries are based on public company and government release material.
  • Markers are approximate and do not mean a project is approved, complete, or acceptable.
